Homemade bread is comfort food in this especially difficult time.  One yummy great recipe is Racheal Chandler’s Italian bread.

Here are the steps to making this tasty bread.

Put in a medium-size glass or metal bowl, stir and let stand 10 minutes.

1 cup warm water

2 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons salt

1 package of yeast

After yeast mix is foamy, add and mix:

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoons black pepper

2 tablespoons Olive oil

2 tablespoons Chandler’s Sandhill   honey

Add:

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2 cups white flour

Mix, adding more wheat flour as needed.

Dough needs to be soft but not overly sticky. Dump out on a floured surface kneading 3-5 minutes and form a ball. In a glass bowl, put 1T Olive oil.  Put dough in bowl turning to cover with oil.  Cover and let rise 1 hour. Punch down and reshape to a ball place on parchment paper let rise 45 minutes. Place a baking stone in oven heated to 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Pull from oven and place dough on the stone (keeping on parchment paper} bake 25 minutes.
